If you're a woman over 40 running your own business, chances are your biggest problem isn't a lack of ideas!

You've probably bought the courses, downloaded the guides, listened to the podcasts and saved enough social media posts to keep you busy for the next five years.

Yet every Monday you still find yourself asking the same question.

What should I work on first?

It's a common challenge for Australian women in business, especially those juggling clients, family, ageing parents, grandchildren, household responsibilities and everything else life throws at them. Time is limited, your to do list keeps growing and marketing often ends up at the bottom of the pile.

The problem isn't motivation.

It's decision fatigue.

The hidden cost of doing business alone

Many women work from home or run a solo business. That means every decision lands on their shoulders.

Should you write a blog?

Update your website?

Send an email?

Learn AI?

Attend a networking event?

Answering those questions every day is exhausting. Before long, hours disappear without any real progress.

The irony is that most business owners already know what they should be doing. They just don't have the structure or accountability to keep doing it consistently.

Why consistency beats motivation

Business growth rarely comes from one brilliant idea.

It comes from the small things you do every week.

Showing up online.

Following up with prospects.

Asking for reviews.

Networking.

Improving your website.

Learning one new skill at a time.

None of these tasks are difficult on their own. The challenge is fitting them into an already busy life.

That's why successful business owners rely on systems instead of motivation. A simple daily plan removes the guesswork and helps you focus on the actions that actually bring in customers.

Stop trying to keep up with everything

Artificial intelligence, social media, Google, SEO and online marketing are changing faster than ever.

Trying to keep up with every update is almost a full time job.

Many women spend hours watching videos, reading articles and scrolling social media looking for answers, only to finish the day feeling even more overwhelmed.

The smartest business owners don't try to learn everything.

They learn what matters most for their business and ignore the rest.

Having someone filter the noise can save countless hours every month.

Business is easier when you're not doing it alone

One of the biggest advantages of joining a business community is having people who understand exactly what you're going through.

You can ask questions without feeling silly.

Celebrate your wins with people who genuinely understand what they mean.

Learn from other business owners who have already solved the problem you're facing.

Most importantly, you'll have people encouraging you to keep going on the days when business feels hard.

Support, accountability and shared experience often make the difference between giving up and pushing through.

You don't need another course

This surprises many business owners.

They think the answer is buying another program or attending another workshop.

Usually it isn't.

What they really need is a simple plan they can follow every day.

When you know exactly what to do next, you stop wasting energy making decisions and start making progress instead.

Small, consistent actions build confidence.

Confidence builds momentum.

Momentum builds profitable businesses.

The best investment isn't more knowledge

For busy Australian business women over 40, success isn't about working longer hours.

It's about making the hours you already have count.

Whether you're building a new business or growing an established one, the goal is the same.

Less overwhelm.

More clarity.

Consistent action.

Because the women who grow their businesses aren't necessarily the smartest or the busiest.

They're the ones who keep showing up, one practical step at a time.

If you're tired of trying to work it all out on your own, finding a supportive business community that offers accountability, practical training and a clear daily focus could be the smartest investment you make this year.

And the good news is that it's right here waiting for you: https://midlifersinbusiness.com.au

A year ago I didnt know if I could pull this off...

Nobody pays a dollar a day upfront for anything anymore! Not in a world of free trials and free business groups and free everything, where the real business starts once you're inside and the upsells begin. That was the belief sitting in my head before I launched MIB, after five years building NWM Business and 12 years of Business - coaching people one on one. I built a new Skool community with no free tier, no upsells, everything included, one price, paid upfront. I genuinely did not know if anyone would say yes.

I had spent five years learning what people would pay for. Coaching calls. Courses. Programs with a ladder of offers waiting at each stage. I knew that model. I had built a living from it.

So walking away from it to try something simpler, something that asked people to trust me before they had even seen what was inside, felt reckless some days and obvious on others.

The doubt didn't show up as one dramatic moment of fear. It showed up in small ways. Checking the numbers too often. Rehearsing what I'd say if it flopped. Wondering if a dollar a day sounded like a bargain or like a red flag. Wondering if the people who already knew me, the ones who had done my coaching, would be the only ones who ever joined.

Then one evening I was sitting with my phone, refreshing the member list out of habit more than expectation. A new name appeared. I didn't recognise it. I clicked into the payment details and saw they had chosen the annual option, not the monthly. My stomach did something strange. This person had never spoken to me. Never sat in a coaching call. Never seen my face on a stage or heard my voice on a podcast. They had looked at what I built, read what it offered, and decided it was worth a full year of their trust before they had even met me.

I sat there for a minute just staring at the screen.....grateful.

Then it happened again. Another name I didn't recognise. Another sign up.

That was the moment the doubt cracked open. Not the launch. Not the first sale from someone who already knew me. It was strangers choosing this on the strength of the thing itself, with nothing else to go on.

It felt like doors opening at exactly the pace I was walking. Nothing rushed, nothing forced. Just steady, in step with what I was actually ready for.

It will be a year on August 5th 2026, and MIB is sitting at 92% Engagement and 96% retention. Those numbers matter. But they are not what changed in me.

What changed is simpler than any number on a dashboard. I trust the platform now. I trust the model, the one I once wasn't sure would work. And more than that, I trust myself to keep going, to build without needing constant proof before I take the next step.

I am riding the wave toward 200 members next goal.

I am sharing this because the doubt was real, and the sleepless checking of numbers was real, and the fear of building something really different after five years of doing it one way was real too.

This isn't a highlight reel of results. It's what it actually looked like to not know, to build anyway, and to watch strangers decide I was worth trusting before I had decided it myself.

Now I host a brilliant online community which has also expanded into Women in Business Networking events in Perth, Online Business Coaching and Business Retreats in Perth and I couldn't be happier.

Dedicated to your success, Janine

I'm already flat out running my business, do I really have time for a community too?

If you run a business in Australia and you're over 40, chances are your week is already full before it even starts. Clients, admin, kids, ageing parents, the actual work of running the thing. So when someone suggests joining a business community, the honest reaction is usually not excitement. It's tiredness. Where exactly is this extra time meant to come from.

It's a fair question, and it deserves a real answer, not a sales pitch.

You're not imagining it, most communities do take real time

A lot of business groups are built around the idea that more time in the room equals more value. Weekly meetings. Long lunches. Events that need travel, outfits, and a babysitter. For some women, at some stages of business, that works beautifully. But if you're already stretched, being told to find another two hours a week just adds guilt on top of tired.

That's the part nobody says out loud. The problem usually isn't that you don't want connection. It's that most models of connection are built for people with more spare hours than you currently have.

What being part of Midlifers in Business actually looks like

Midlifers in Business was built by a business owner who felt the isolation of running things alone, not by someone who's never lived the juggle. So it's designed around tiny pockets of time, not big blocks of it.

In a normal week, being part of MIB might look like:

A quick scroll through the community between client calls, where you drop a comment on someone's win or ask a fast question about a problem you're stuck on.

15-30 minutes on a Monday Magic post that gives you one thing to focus on for the week, instead of a hundred things to feel behind on.

Catching part of a Friday Live while you're folding washing or waiting for the kettle, not clearing your calendar for it.

Popping into a Monthly Online Happy Hour and skipping it entirely when you don't have time.

None of this asks you to show up for hours. It asks you to show up for minutes, when you have them, in a space that's still there when you come back.

Come in, take what you need and get back to work!

Real support doesn't disappear when you go quiet

Here's the bit that matters most for busy women specifically. Life happens. Some weeks you'll have five minutes for MIB. Other weeks you'll have none at all, because a client crisis or a sick kid or your own health took over. In a lot of networking groups, going quiet for a few weeks means falling behind or feeling like you've dropped the ball.

MIB isn't built that way. The community holds the space whether you're active that week or not. There's no roll call, no guilt trip, no catching up required. You come back in when you can, and the support is still there. Just start again that day!

The one thing it does ask of you

The one thing MIB is genuinely built around is DPAs, dollar productive activities. Not busyness for the sake of it, but the specific actions that actually move your business forward. So even the small pockets of time you do spend in the community are pointed at things that matter, not just noise or scrolling.

That's really the difference. It's not about finding more hours. It's about what a few honest minutes, spent in the right place, can do for how supported and clear you feel running your business.

So, do you have time for this

Probably more than you think, because it was never built to need much. If 15 minutes here and there, on your own terms, sounds more doable than another weekly commitment, MIB might be worth a look. There's a free trial, so you can see exactly how little time it actually takes before you decide anything.

Starting a Business After 40 in Perth: Why Community Beats Going It Alone

If you are a woman in Perth building a business after 40, you already know the hard part is not the idea. It is the hours spent working alone, wondering if anyone else is figuring this out as they go too.

Most business advice for this stage of life focuses on strategy. Marketing plans, pricing models, sales funnels. All useful. None of it solves the real problem that trips up so many midlife entrepreneurs in Perth: doing it all in isolation.

The isolation nobody warns you about

When you left the corporate world, or stepped back from raising a family, or simply decided it was time to build something of your own, nobody mentioned how quiet it would get. No team to bounce ideas off. No manager checking in. Just you, a laptop, and a growing list of things you are not sure you are doing right.

This is especially common for women over 40 starting or scaling a business in Perth. You have the experience, the work ethic, and the drive. What is often missing is a room full of people who understand exactly where you are, because they have been there too.

Why one to one coaching only solves half the problem

One to one coaching has its place. It gives you a plan and someone to hold you accountable. What it rarely gives you is a community.

That gap is exactly why Midlifers in Business exists. After years of one to one client work, the pattern became impossible to ignore. Business owners were getting great advice, then going home to the same silence. What actually changed things was not more strategy. It was connection with other women in business who were navigating the same stage of life and the same stage of business at the same time.

What community actually changes

There is a difference between knowing what to do and having somewhere to say out loud that you have not done it yet. A strong business community gives you that. It gives you:

People who celebrate the small wins, not just the big launches Honest feedback from women who are not afraid to tell you the truth A sense of accountability that comes from belonging, not obligation Practical, shared knowledge on the things nobody teaches you, like using AI tools, running a live sale, or planning your next 90 days

This is the heart of what Midlifers in Business was built to do for women in Perth and beyond. Real business education, delivered inside a genuine community rather than a course you complete alone.

What this looks like in Perth

Midlifers in Business runs both online and in person, including recent gatherings like the Mid-Year Business Reset Retreat at Two Rocks, where members spent two days working through business planning, content creation, and connection with other Perth business owners face to face.

For many members, that weekend was the first time in years they sat in a room with other women who simply got it. No explaining why running a small business after 40 feels different. No justifying why community matters as much as strategy. Just understanding, straight away.

You do not have to build this alone

If you are a woman over 40 in Perth building or growing a business, you do not need another course sitting unfinished in your inbox. You need people. A community that understands the stage of life you are in, the stage of business you are at, and is genuinely in your corner.

That is what Midlifers in Business offers. Practical business education, real accountability, and a community of women who are doing this alongside you, not just cheering from the sidelines.

Curious what it feels like to stop doing this alone? Start your 7 day free trial of Midlifers in Business today and see the difference community makes.

New Agents for CHATGPT explained

Ever wished you could clone yourself to handle the admin, research, and online chaos of running a business?

Well, meet the next best thing: ChatGPT Agents are your digital right hand that doesn’t just answer questions, it gets stuff done. We’re talking tasks that used to take hours now handled with a few words.

Think of it like this: ChatGPT Agents are no longer just a clever chatbot. They’re more like a super-charged virtual assistant that can follow your instructions, take action, and even work behind the scenes on your behalf.

Here’s what they can now do for you:

Take Real Action (Not Just Chat)
They don’t just give you ideas, they actually DO the doing. Filling out forms, creating presentations, researching suppliers, booking flights, even analysing spreadsheets? Done.

Work Across the Web
Your Agent can browse websites, click buttons, and log into accounts to complete tasks—just like a human assistant would. Only faster!

Connect With Your Tools
It can link up with your Gmail, Google Calendar, file drives, and more. Meaning you could ask:
“Look at my inbox, pull out client questions from the week, and turn them into a Q&A for my next blog.” And it will.

Follow Complex Instructions
You can give layered requests like:
“Find the top three industry news articles relevant to women-led coaching businesses this week and summarise them in bullet points,” and the agent will research, filter, summarise, and format it all in one go.

This is super cool! Set and Forget with Recurring Tasks
Here’s the game-changer: You can now set it to check things weekly, like:
“Every Monday morning, scan the web for new reports or trends in the [your industry] space and email me a summary.”
It remembers. It delivers. It works while you sleep (or sip your coffee in the sun).

Example?
Planning a retreat? You can ask:
“Plan a wellness weekend for 10 women, include accommodation options, catering contacts, travel options from Perth, and build a Canva slideshow for promotion.”
Your Agent can do all of that and deliver it in a tidy folder.

If you’ve ever felt like you’re doing it all and then some… this is your sign to delegate to digital.

ChatGPT Agents are here to help you reclaim time, stay ahead of trends, and finally work on your business not just in it. Very exciting times ahead! Janine
